Hi. I have been testing the new beta version for a small family site, just to host pics, etc. I set up a user with editors rights and set the rights for the editor to just photo related functions. All was well. I could log in with the user and the editor panel would show at the top, (I’m using the Fusion template). A few weeks went by and I did not work on the site. When I got back around to it the editor panel would not appear when I logged in. I clicked on the link at the bottom to access the SiteX site and noticed that the “Powered by” link had changed from 0.8.0 Beta to 0.7 beta. I not have made any changes that would change the version, and there have been no compromise to my server. Any idea what might have happened? Do you think a re-install would fix it? Thanks! |

That sounds totally impossible to me, as the "powered by" link text is hardcoded, not dynamic.
Not meaning to insult your intelligence, but is it possible that when you were testing you installed two versions? and maybe you're looking at the wrong one?

Hi. Thanks for your response, and my intelligence is not insulted at all.
I assure you that I did a clean install of 0.8.0 only, and no other version was uploaded. I will try a re-install and see if that takes care of it issue with the editor panel. Thanks again! I appreciate you always responding so quickly!

A re-install won't make any difference, I'm fairly certain.
In a clean install of version 0.8.0 the "powered by" notice in the footer of the site should show 0.8 Beta The only way that can change is if any of the following are true:
1) someone has installed 0.7 beta on top of the old install
2) you're looking at the wrong URL (if you have both 0.7 and 0.8 installed).
3) you have installed fusion theme from 0.7 (or have used code from a version 0.7 theme) into your 0.8 site.
There's a few things you can check though which should help get a better understanding of what's going on:
1) Login to sitex with an admin account. Go to Admin Panel > Site Overview. There it should give you the version and build number. Let me know what those are.
2) If you login with an admin account, can you see Admin Panel > User Settings > Manage Editor Rights?
3) Switch to another theme and see if the problem goes away. Admin Panel > Site Design > Theme
One other thing (not directly related) - Once this immediate problem is figured out, you should get all the latest fixes for 0.8.0 which are in the SVN. There are patches for known issues, and i recommend getting them all so that we don't have to keep answering the same issues over and over, and so that you have less problems with your site.
Do this before modifying your themes.
