Since the release of SiteX Beta 0.7.4 some interesting changes have taken place which we'd like to make our users aware of. Much of what i'm writing here has already found its way onto the SiteX website news, but we're not in the habit of mailing everyone each time we post something. We don't like to spam!

Firstly, SiteX 0.7.4 has seen a lot of use, yet very few support issues have been raised. This tells us that this is our most stable release ever, and this makes us very happy :) The SiteX website now has a Hall of Fame where you can checkout other users sites. If your site is pushing the boundaries of SiteX design or functionality or both, let us know details and you may see your site included. We're keen to demonstrate just how cool SiteX can be!

Visitors to the site may have also noticed a change in our update strategy. There have been a further 2 releases of SiteX 0.7.4 since the initial one, and this is inline with our new regular build strategy. We're not promising a timescale for each build, but we are adding minor features tweaks and new languages as soon as possible, rather than waiting for the next "BIG" release which typically comes round once a year. Typically a build release will not require any updates to the database at all, and a change log is kept on the forums so you can see what files have changed. Build releases are optional upgrades, and the build numbers are taken directly from our SVN at http://sitex.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/sitex/
Major security fixes or recommended upgrades will still be published under a new sitex version number.

We also have some new SiteX related projects underway which for now are being kept under wraps, but we're working towards test releases. More on that soon!

The last 3 SiteX builds have added:
- french language file
- filtered user count to admin panel user manager
- version and build number to admin panel overview
- german language file
- browser RSS detection (RSS icon shows in supported browsers)

If you haven't already upgraded from 0.7.3 (or earlier) to SiteX 0.7.4 we thoroughly recommend that you do - please read upgrade instructions

This latest update adds filtered user count to admin panel user manager, and adds version and build number to admin panel overview.

SiteX 0.7.4 Build 396 is now available. This build adds the french language file to the standard install. Existing users of SiteX 0.7.4 do not need to upgrade. If you would like to add the french language file to your exsisting installation, you can download it separately from the localizations page, or from sourceforge

We're very conscious that the time between SiteX releases has traditionally been pretty long, and the changes fairly major. This strategy up to now has worked, but now do to the number of SiteX stes out there and the urgency of some features and fixes we have decided to change our build strategy. From now on you will start to see us releasing minor builds of SiteX as we fix things and add new tweaks and features.

Its likely that these builds will be largely 'files only' changes. The released builds will use the revision numbers from our SVN as the build number. For those keen to test and to play with SiteX you can always get the latest builds from our SVN using the SVN tab above the banner.

You will also start to see SiteX released in some new flavours, the basic aim being to make available bundled versions of SiteX mods. Some SiteX mods are fairly adventurous, but that also means that mod installs are more complex. Currently in line for release is a multilanguage version, and a multi-calendar system developed for managing car rentals, but which can easily be adapted for other uses.
